Wilton Armetale Serveware began in 1893 in Wrightsville, Pennsylvania. Founded by the Wilton family, she began as Susquehanna Castings, a foundry on the Susquehanna River. The Wilton family lime kiln business, Stacy Wilton Lime operated across the street. Iron ore deposits were found in the river to create from the foundry to manufacture new products for the entire region.
Produced in collaboration with Wilton Products, Susquehanna CastingsNew iron products, which were painted and decorated for the industry and consumers. The company gained popularity during the 1940s and 1950s with products such as bottle openers, candle holders, coasters and mechanical banks. In the mid-1960s, Susquehanna Castings will be closed to Wilton Brass Company.
In 1963, the company began working with a new metal from an aluminum alloy developed, which they named 'Armetale. After a few years, "Armetale brand proved to be much morepopular with consumers as brass. Wall decorations, garden plaques and other household novelties were the most popular. Wilton Brass Company eventually changed its name to Wilton Armetale after 1989.
